Creating Outside the Box: Abstract in the Making Saturday, May 30th | 10:00-3:00 Minimum age: 18 Registration Fee: $100 Material fee: $20 paid in cash to the instructor at the beginning of class Stuck? Looking for a fresh perspective? This workshop will light your way to a fresh understanding of what’s possible in your compositions, working and playing in Acrylic and Mixed Media. What you will learn: What makes for a strong composition How to utilize your unique creative vocabulary How to break old habits Considerations when layering with marks and color How to move through apparent dead ends Freedom to flow intuitively when feeling stuck How to feed the creative fire within What you will create: Four small studies exploring what you learn One 10x10’ painting pulling it all together How to prepare: Look through magazines at home, find at least one, and up to five photos/images that appeal to you Make copies of photos to enlarge close to 8.5 x 11” Bring the photos/images with you to the workshop Also bring with you: Bag lunch Any supplies from the list you have already or want to purchase for the workshop. Supplies provided (or bring your own): Tracing Paper/newsprint/deli paper/parchment paper Acrylic Paints (if you own your own Acrylic Paints and want to bring a set of black, white, and the primary colors - Yellow, Blue, Red, Green and Orange, please bring with you.) Acrylic Matte Medium Brayers Squeegees Paint brushes (again, if you have several different sized brushes that you already own, bring with you. Additional brushes will be made available). Variety of pencils, water soluble crayons, pastels, and markers.
