The next time you’re tapping your toes, or up and grooving, to wonderful music at a GMAEC concert, please don’t take that sound for granted! Join the Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center in thanking our Featured Volunteer, John Anderson for all his hard work and audio engineering expertise!

Having moved to the Western Slope from Arkansas in 2006, John was recruited to be part of the “birth” of the GMAEC in 2017. He has since generously lent his extensive knowledge in sound engineering, and the physical labor required to set up and break down audio equipment. While he is paid to manage sound for concerts, John selflessly volunteers many additional hours as the go-to guy for maintaining and upgrading audio and other equipment, and for everything from carpentry to shoveling snow!

While living in Arkansas, John toured with nationally recognized bands and musicians as a sound consultant and engineer. He was in charge of the hauling, set-up, sound checks, adjustments and then break down of all audio equipment needed for concerts a couple times per month, mostly in the St. Louis area. Also a musician himself, John played guitar throughout his life, including a stint in a “Motown fusion” band as a young adult.

John is a lifelong outdoorsman, living in and enjoying the wilderness areas from Kansas to Arkansas and now Colorado. His other interests include Quentin Tarantino and Coen Bros. movies, telling interesting stories, and spending time with family.
