Volunteer Handbook

“Travel far enough, you meet yourself.” -David Mitchell
The Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center would like to extend our warmest appreciation to our Featured Volunteer, Amy Alfaro! Although she works a full time job, Amy offers hours of her spare time to volunteer as an Art Garage studio host. Her past experience with quilting colorful fabrics has led to her enjoyment of multi-media color expression with glaze on her hand built and wheel pottery, making her an ideal volunteer for GMAEC.
Various career experiences have shaped Amy’s life, and people skills, to include dental assistant, retail management, and technician at the Delta County Treasurer’s office. Currently, Amy serves as Deputy Town Clerk for Cedaredge.
Amy grew up in Northern California, and has also lived in Alaska and Washington state. She ended up moving to Cedaredge with her daughter twenty-one years ago following her parents’ retirement in the area. She has always loved to hike, camp and explore the outdoors, so Amy enjoys what the Grand Mesa area offers, even though she does miss the dense California coastal forest and dramatic coastline of her childhood.
With a passion for travel, Amy has visited five of the world’s seven continents. She only has to travel to Australia and Antarctica to reach her “all seven” continent goal. Amy enjoys immersing herself in diverse culture and so far her favorite country is Thailand.
Lucky for us at GMAEC, despite all her travels, Amy makes Cedaredge her home. Thank you, Amy!
