Handle with Care: A One-Day Workshop Sunday, August 2nd | 10:00am - 3:00pm Minimum age: 14 Registration fee $75 Material fee: Must use clay from the GMAEC Pottery Studio. 25lb bags are available for purchase at $30 with a $15 glaze and firing fee. Clay can also be purchased by the pound: reclaimed clay $1.00 per pound and new clay $1.50 per pound. Elevate your pottery with handles that are both beautiful and functional. Bring your leather hard pots to this hands-on workshop, where you’ll learn multiple techniques for creating handles, including pulling, slab-building, and extruding. Explore ways to add thoughtful details like thumb rests and other decorative elements, while gaining confidence in securely attaching handles and preventing cracks. We’ll also cover how to store handles so you can build a ready-to-use collection for future pieces. Perfect for potters looking to refine their skills and bring more intention to their work. Class begins with Open Studio hours to produce pots that are leather hard and ready for handles. Open Studio Wednesday, July 29th (4:00-7:00) / Friday, July 31st (11:00-4:00) / Saturday, August 1st (11:00-4:00) Bring several pots ready for handles to the workshop on Saturday, August 2nd.
