This presentation will focus on making the threat of pain smaller through increasing understanding of what pain is, and what it isn't.  Dr. Kevin Johnston will offer some suggestions on things individuals can begin doing today that will help calm their pain.  It will be an in-depth discussion about misinformation in the pain world and why interventions like injections and surgeries don't usually solve the problem.

Dr. Kevin R. Johnson, PT, DPT, TPS

Certified Therapeutic Pain Specialist

Transformative Pain Care and Physical Therapy

Kevin R. Johnson, PT, DPT, TPS, is a seasoned physical therapist. He graduated from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus with a doctorate in physical therapy in 2009. He opened his own private PT practice, Transformative Pain Care and Physical Therapy, in 2024 in Delta, CO.

Kevin has been on the receiving end of physical therapy on more than one occasion due to various injuries and surgeries. He therefore understands his clients with added clarity that is only possible for someone who has been through the recovery process. Kevin knows what it feels like to overcome chronic pain and the effects of opioids during recovery and he knows from personal experience how discouraging it is when a set-back or re-injury occurs. He also knows first-hand the exhilarating feeling of overcoming debilitating challenges and works hard to help his clients achieve this.

While he enjoys treating a variety of conditions, Kevin has a deep love for helping those who live with chronic pain. He became a certified therapeutic pain specialist in 2020. By incorporating pain neuroscience education into his treatments, he is able to improve understanding and help clients rehabilitate their pain while decreasing dependence on medications.

Kevin loves spending his free time with his wife and four kids exploring the great outdoors and going on new adventures. His kids think it’s great that their dad spends all day helping people; he agrees with them!
