Join us for an intimate musical journey featuring traditional and modern music from around the world as well as original music from the North Fork Valley. All the musicians are well-versed multi-instrumentalists, so you will hear many different tone colors and musical textures through the sounds of singing (including three part harmonies), strings (including fiddle, cello, guitar, electric bass and mandolin), woodwinds (including clarinet, melodica, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone and flute), brass (including trumpet, trombone and sousaphone) and pitched as well as unpitched percussion (including drum set, hand drums, shakers and different sized wooden marimbas).
About the bands: With their multi-instrumental multicultural sound, the Embodying Rhythm Collective takes listeners on a heartfelt journey, delivering fun sonic soundscapes, while utilizing different rhythms, grooves, textures, styles of music and different instruments including percussion, brass, woodwinds and strings.
With their honeyed harmonies and solid groove, Mama Lingua warms the crowd like a good drought of elderflower mead under a full moon. Original folk and world music songs accompanied by guitar, violin, cello and percussion.
About the concert:
The concert will include selections from each of these ensembles individually as well both of them playing together in a collective super-band. Come and enjoy two of the most interesting and inspiring Western Slope bands while they join forces for a fun collaborative musical experience.
