About the Event
"Losing The West" is a documentary film about small ranching and farming, exemplified by the story of a lifelong Colorado cowboy. Howard Linscott, "is" the original Marlboro Man, a gruff, chain-smoking 70-year-old who's been ranching all his life. The film explores whether cherished Western traditions and this fiercely independent lifestyle can survive, as they collide with inevitable population growth in the West. Most of the movie was filmed around Ouray, Ridgway and Montrose.
While Linscott is no longer with us, his three daughters- Sherry Peterson, Suzan Hatter and D’Ann Linscott- Dunham will be at the screening and introduce the film.
A portion of the proceeds from the showing will be going to the “Dare to Dream” organization, a local non-profit, Equestrian Assisted Learning Center founded for the sole purpose of helping veterans, first responders, foster children, at risk youth and others with special needs through the healing power of equines.
