You'll learn the fundamental techniques of centering, pulling, shaping, and trimming clay on the wheel. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some prior experience, this class will provide you with a solid foundation in this ancient and rewarding craft. Key topics covered: Safety and studio etiquette: Learn about proper clay handling, tool usage, and studio cleanliness. Clay preparation and wedging: Understand the importance of preparing your clay for optimal throwing. Centering: Master the crucial skill of centering the clay on the wheelhead, ensuring even distribution and smooth rotation. Pulling: Learn the techniques for pulling up the walls of your vessel, creating cylinders and other basic forms. Shaping: Explore various shaping techniques to create unique forms, including bowls, plates, and more. Trimming: Learn how to refine your forms by trimming away excess clay and creating clean, finished edges. What you'll need: No prior experience is required. All tools and materials will be provided. Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting dirty. An open mind and a willingness to learn.
