Charcoal is a great tool to learn all about light and shadow in your art. What makes a piece look realistic is showing the light and where the shadows are. Some people think that charcoal is a messy medium, but it doesn't have to be. I will show you how to use charcoal pencils, so they don't make a mess. We will learn all about the ranges of dark to light with your pencils and how to use a grayscale to measure and test how dark or light areas in your drawing are. The ability to discern how light or dark an area is or should be, will be valuable no matter what medium you use. You don't need to know how to draw from scratch. In fact, we will use a line drawing to trace out the areas in our drawing. It's really easy and the class will be simplified and step by step for your success. Find out all about erasers and how to use them to lift and lighten areas in your drawing. I feel that the ability to erase with control makes charcoal such a fun medium and leads to beautiful drawings. I love to teach. I've been teaching in person and online for many years and I know how to make a class fun and how to help you be successful and accomplished in your project. Come have fun!!
