Kris is a native Coloradan who was born in Denver and lived in Colorado Springs until she was 14. She then moved to Southern California where she lived and worked until her dream to move back to Colorado became realized in 2014 with a move to Leadville. After 4 years in Leadville, she discovered the beauty and more convenient lifestyle of Cedaredge and became a part of this community in 2019.

 

Kris spent 30 years as an educator working with the “worst of the worst” youth in San Diego Juvenile Halls. In addition to core subjects she taught ESL, Life Skills, Art, and Sex Education. She spent days with murderers, rapists, robbers, and gang bangers. She loved them all. She didn’t love what they did to be incarcerated, but loved every young student who entered her classroom.

 

As a supporter of the arts it is a natural fit for Kris to volunteer at the Art Center. She says, “GMAEC became much more than a volunteer opportunity - it became my community where friendships have flourished, fun has been found, and I’ve been enriched by exposure to amazing artists and performers.”

 

We are incredibly blessed to have Kris at the heart of our community  writing the monthly volunteer newsletter, working in the Gallery, and volunteering for special events. She spreads love wherever she goes!
